The Oddirector RSS

Diana, a mythical figure to many, is the illustrious Bay Area Art Director on the UX team at Ask.com. She's responsible for the homepage getting decked out for holidays and events as well as assorted user experience visual strategy.

She's the gregarious sort who makes up words, especially for work-related and Scrabble purposes. Also on a journey seeking her bliss. If you find it before she does, clue her in.

May the Google Doodler be officially "on notice" and challenged to Jell-o wrestling soon. Verily.

I need a butler

I’ve been quiet.

And I think it’s time to confess that I need a butler. So if you are one, you should contact me.

That’s Entertainment?

I am concerned/perplexed/frought with conflict regarding the amount of nonentities which obviously consider themselves entertaining. They may only be endlessly amusing to themselves or their close friends, so the charade continues. This is like wearing the ugly pink prom dress you ask for an honest opinion on, but everyone tells you to look fabulous. Hey! Wear it every day! But then the masses will protest because they can and usually will call a steaming pile of Bolshevik for what it is. Especially online.

In turn, having wasted minutes on self education of what not to do and how not to be, watching such stuff has had its value.

Even coming close to being dubbed “entertaining” is a pretty big claim and/or commitment to live up to. It’s responsibility if you’re pouring hours of your youth into it. Note: being reviled and scorned does not constitute living up to such claims. Handlers will tell you that you are “great fun” or “entertaining” if they have something to gain.

So, I’m a little gunshy. And I have a real job and other projects which require me to be “creative” and “inventive”… not so much a performance art. Before I do anything, I wonder how it may impact my legacy. Lofty musings. This includes deciding between whole wheat and sour dough for my sandwiches.

Mark Ronson on Lily Allen and Friends.

Tracie has already clipped the best bits of this on Jezebel, but if you’re bored at work or even just at home (like I am!) it’s worth watching in its entirety.

Time to love some bad Photoshopping

I’m immune to scolding because this was discovered and sent to me by my boss. :-) Oh and it’s in line with the research for the Mother’s Day themed promo. Yep.

[Thing to click on and maybe regret that you did

I especially like the Zach Braff brood. He’s not that bad looking as a chick… maybe I’m biased because I’m really not that far off as a chick anyway.

Oddities

Sure, I’ll take suggestions for what ODD stuff I should investigate next. I think we need to do more of these episodes. We may be onto something. Glad that we were well-received so far.

Shoot smart suggestions with any relevant details to oddirector @ gmail .com (I know, sacrilege). It’s only temporary.

Please also limit suggestions to San Francisco Bay Area only for now until someone can fund a private jet for me and a camera crew to investigate odd happenings and people in Paris. Ok?

For now, Easter episode from weeks back… snappy humor these peeps have.
